Civil Litigation -
Signing of Documents

Northern California Civil Litigation Information

If you do not fully understand a document you are asked to sign, do not sign it! Even if you think you understand it, consider consulting an attorney if there is enough at stake.

Everyone signs documents, almost daily. Some documents we sign are filled with legal terms and "boilerplate" which trained professionals must carefully analyze to fully understand. Too often we see problems relating to documents signed by people who did not fully understand what they were signing. If its important enough to require your signature, its important enough to understand what you are signing. Obviously, the more significant the transaction involved, the more care you should take in making sure you understand all the terms.

If you have a question concerning the terms of an agreement you are asked to sign, please call us. We will be happy to review and analyze your documents and explain the legal implications of provisions you may not fully understand.
